Day 2: The Rafting Trip

So begins day numero dos (again sorry with the spanish). another great early morning wake up. yes 5:15 in the am. we dont really like to sleep on our vacations. ha yeah so we get up so we could catch some breakfast at Eggs and I where we actually showed up at before the freakin store even opened at 6am. (thanks dad) just so we could ensure that we beat the mad 6am rush. whew. it was a good thing we got up that early because we definetly wouldnt have gotten a table. haha. yeah so we finish and meet our tour group at the local high school. where we get into vans and head off to the colorado river. we litterally drove through the mountains it was sick. i thought we were literally going to like fall off the side at some points. i would have never ever driven on the road that we took. we were some 12,000 ft up i dunno it was intense. ha. well i guess gina and lauren didnt think it was that intense. ha. so i think it was like 3 hours later or something- we arrive and get debriefed on the correct way to comandeer (like that word? ha) your raft down the river. i didnt really listen. woops. oh well it wasnt all that hard. haha. so we had somewhat of an intersting group of people on the tour with us...but it made for a fun one. anywho this was our fearless leader and captain. "make it happen captian" ha. and so we took some scenery shots. because again- there was some intense coolness. haha. yeah sorry. we did the whole rapid thing- butttt i have to say that i was a little dissapointed that there were more intense rapids. i mean i am trying to ride some class IV or V rapids. thats what i am talking about none of this class II and III business. ah its all good. we had some fun having intense- and i mean like intense. water fights with the other vessels. and swimming around in the water. and heres the group shot our of sweet boat. by the way now that i think about it we didnt even name our boat- i dunno what we were thinking. oh well. we havent even named our other boat yet. ha. oh well. what are you going to do about it. and here would be me. i just look like i know what i am doing. you dont even have to tell me. ha i was probably looking at the mountain where there apparantly was this shape of "chief Narmandy" or something- but it actually wasnt there. everyone just made it up. or it was and i just didnt see it. one or the other. but who sees things in mountains anyways? so we continue down the river with some paddeling and some swimming - which - was no fun trying to get back into the boat once you were out. more on that later. but anywho we make it down the river- not in the boat- but still none the less made it down the river...it was great. i definetely recommend doing that. just a bit more intense. none of this family rafting- go when the river is high and make sure you have to wear a helmet- that way you know its going to be good. then we get back on the bus drive another billion hours home- which may i add gave me time to read Tuesdays with Morrie which is quite possibly one of the best books ever written (sorry Harry). honestly go read it. its great. makes you think about life. anywho back to the hotel swam a bit in the pool. and hung out. this would be me pointing to the little egg that i got on my head- even though you cant really see it. it was funny. its from reentering the rafting vessle (i should have paid attention during the orientation aspect of the trip) and basically being yanked into the boat and slamming my face on a paddle. thanks guys. ha nah it was all good- i laughed (go figure). okay now timeout- i have to add this story from Fun Camp (yes it IS fun like i havent heard that one before...) where i am a counselor- so there is like like 5 year old boy and we are in gym playing a tag-type game - Upset the Fruit Basket if you really want to know (its a personal favorite) anywho- this kid is chasing me and he is surprisingly fast so me- not wanting to be caught by a freakin 5 year old starts to book it across the gym- i make it to the other side and i stop myself by running into the wall- but i put my hands up to stop myself. well this little kid does not either: a. see the wall there, b. see the wall- but doesnt have time to put his hands up, or c. sees the wall and just doesnt care to put his hands up. but anywho this kid rams into the wall right with his head. like smack full blast right into this wall. i look at him and am like shoot this kid is so dead and its totally my fault i should have just let the little kid tag me- there is no need to be that competative hes five- but no lie- this kid gets up, tags me, and is like your it. holly smokes. i just laughed and was like dude after that- sure ill be it. shoot man.
anywho. okay sorry wayyy off track this is suppost to be about our trip. but at this point i think that it was pretty much our day. went out to eat at Patrick and Erins old restaurant and then hit the sack.

YAY!! I'm so glad you're doing this - looks like you guys are having an amazing time and I'm uber-jealous. It was fun to read about and your writing makes me laugh (in that's it funny, not that it's low-grade talent or anything - though you could spell like this wasn't a txt msg) :-) Have to give you a hard time. I can't wait till you get back and we can chat all about it - you totally have to do a good round up on the wedding for me on here - I want to know every detail!!!! Have loads of fun and give EVERYONE a hug from me (I'm going to ask if you did this). LOVE YA!
